What's it like to be a ‘winner’? Excellent! How do we know it? We are excited to announce that we won the prestige TPI Awards 2025 in ‘The Green Award’ category. The jury recognized our participation in an innovative project: the first emission-free Theater Tour.

First emission-free Theater Tour
We were awarded for the E-Truck Theater Tour, of the theater production “Horror” by
Jakop Ahlbom Company. This revolutionary project represents Europe’s first fully electric theater tour and is the result of a unique collaboration between a theater production company, different theatres, an external data company, a mobile charger provider, a subsidy fund and our team.
We rose to the challenge of logistically handling a zero-emission theatre tour. As a result, we covered around 5,000 km as well as reduced CO2 emissions by 13 tons. The truck used in this project was charged from the stage power supply during the day, when the energy consumption in the theatre was low. At night, the same connection powered the lights and sound. This efficient approach prevented grid overload.
With this tour we did a first step of the long road to fully Zero Emission touring.
More than touring
The jury appreciated our comprehensive approach to sustainability, which extends beyond the road. During the tour with Jakop Ahlbom Company, the set, technical equipment, wardrobe, and merchandise are stored in one of our 400 shipping containers, which are the placed in one of our storage warehouses. The warehouses is heated to a minimum of 17 degrees, using sustainable energy sources such as geothermal energy and solar panels. This way, we not only ensure that the materials are stored safely but also provide an eco-friendly solution for the storage itself.
A game-changer in the event industry
Pieter Smit is a partner in sustainability, too. It's not only a slogan. ‘We believe that true transformation comes from both innovation and collaboration. We believe in partnership. That is why we feel obliged to share our knowledge and experiences with others. We want our achievements to become an inspiration for others. We are currently in the midst of an energy transition from fossil fuels to sustainable resources. It is important to emphasize that this is just the first step in a long journey. We are taking the initial steps, but there is still a long way to go. This award fuels the journey we are on to shape a cleaner future. ’, emphasizes Louise Smit, CEO at Pieter Smit.
